Consider Community Supported Agriculture (CSA’s)

This is one of the most innovative ways to bring fresh, natural, safe, and delicious produce to your table.

Popularized by Robin Van En in the 1980’s the CSA concept works this way:  at the very start of the season of growing you buy what’s called a share in a farmer’s local harvest.

As the crop comes in each week you either drive to the farm to pick up your share or it is delivered to your neighborhood.

This method provides extraordinarily fresh produce and it’s also a great way to support local farms.

However, not all CSA’s are organic.

You need to do a little research before you participate.

There are two websites you can check that can help you with this research:  LocalHarvest.org & the CSACenter.org

Try Delivery Services, Buying Clubs, Or Co-ops

With these options you can no longer make the excuse that organic foods are impossible to come by.

There are several business that will deliver bulk, organic foods directly to your door.

There is one small catch:  you have to team up with a neighbor or someone else to meet the order minimum (which is usually around $300 per order).

Then you have companies like Diamond Organics which will, overnight, send fresh produce to anywhere in the country.

You you decide to go with this method make sure you have exhausted all other methods and then find the business closest to you (the shipping of food across the country is what we try to avoid).
