Your Dangerous Home

Dangerous household chemicals

Did you know that your average household air fresher can interfere with your ability to smell because they disable your nasal passages with a nerve-deadening agent?  It’s true.  Air freshners can also cause hives, convulsions, coma, circulatory collapse, and even death.

And this is just one household cleaning product.

What about dishwashing detergents?  Most commercial dishwashing detergents (that you purchase from the store) contain highly concentrated amounts of chlorine which is the single greatest cause of child poisonings in the home.

Here are a few others you probably were not aware of:

Oven Cleaners - contain lye.  Lye is often used in landfills to dissolve road kill dumps.

Mold/Mildew Cleaners - contain sodium hypochlorite.  This is a highly corrosive agent that can lead to fluid in the lungs.  These specific cleaners also contain formaldehyde which is a dangerous carcinogen.

Antibacterial Household Cleaners - contain triclosan.  Triclosan is readily absorbed through the skin and can cause liver damage.  These cleaners also contribute to bacteria that becomes drug-resistant.

Furniture Polish - contains phenol and nitrobenzene.  These two chemicals are very dangerous and are shown to cause skin and lung cancer.   Popular wood polishes have also been shown to cause behavioral disorders and can actually cause depression (that can last for months).

Car Wash/Car Polish - contain petroleum distillates.  Petroleum distillates have been linked to skin and lung cancer and direct inhalation can cause pulmonary edema which is fatal.

Dangerous household cleaning products are in almost everyone’s home.  Take a look at what you have under the sink.  How many do you have collected under there?  If you’re like most people you probably have quite a few.

So what should you do?

Step one is to get rid of all of them.  You don’t need these dangerous substances around to have a clean home.  Then, when you’re rid of them you have several options that you can choose from to make your home a clean and safe one.

The first option is that you can buy all-natural cleaners online or at the store.  Most of them are safe and free of any harmful chemicals.  The only problem is that they are not cheap.  Most brand-name all-natural cleaners are more expensive than the chemically laden ones.

The second and better option is to simply make your own cleaners at home.  Do you know you can safely clean and disinfect most household surfaces with a few simple items?  Baking soda, vinegar, and citrus fruits mixed in the right combinations can make for powerful, yet safe and natural, all-purpose cleaners.

You can make your own window cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, de-greaser, laundry detergent, dish detergent, car wash, floor cleaner, vinyl cleaner, wood cleaner, oven cleaner, toilet cleaner, bathroom cleaner and much more!
